Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sicorsi made clear last week to the expedition of RCE, led by members of the Council of European Rabbis, Rabbi Binyamin Jacobs Shlita, Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands, Hagaon Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Lichtenstein shlita, head of KF London, and director of the Federation of Jewish Organizations in the European Union (EJA) Rabbi Menachem Margolin, that "The Polish government is determined to find a solution that would allow the continued existence of the Jewish slaughter in the country", and that to achieve the government's solution as quickly as possible the government will act at all levels.

This meeting joins a series of meetings held last month by representatives of the Association of Jewish organizations and RCE with Polish politicians and representatives of Polish EU, and negotiations are conducted between the Polish government and association of Jewish organizations through the committee established for this purpose by the head of the Polish government headed by Minister for Religious Affairs in Poland, Mr. Michael Boni.

The meeting was also attended by Roman Geirtich, the former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and now the lawyer representing the Association of Jewish Organizations in the petition filed for the continued existence of shchita to the Constitutional Court in Poland. The Foreign Minister, who greeted the representatives warmly, told them that at the first phase he intends to apply to the Constitutional Court which will hear the petition filed by the Association of Jewish organizations and will issue a decision as soon as possible, and in addition parliamentary measures will be examined. The Minister added that the Government will maintain full freedom of religion of the Jews in Poland.

Hagaon Rabbi Jacobs detailed to the Foreign Minister about the successful campaign of RCE in the Netherlands to cancel the Bill purported to lead to a similar situation last year. The struggle included productive collaboration with the Muslim community in the state, and led to the cancellation of the decree. Following the meeting, Rabbi Liechtenstein noted that he is encouraged by the Polish government's involvement to solve the problem of slaughter, and hopes that soon we will be able to announce the end of the problem. Rabbi Margolin thanked the foreign minister at the end of the meeting for his and his government's commitment to the issue and expressed the hope that the desired solution will found as soon as possible.
