The struggle at the Golobnzitz construction site continues to surf into violence: Hagaon Rabbi Asher Sternbuch, son of Rab"d Eideh Charedi was attacked yesterday in the Mea Shearim neighborhood by a group of extremists: "Your father is evil, hepermits to dig graves."
Information obtained to B'Chadrei Charedim shows that that Sternbuch walked near the Market of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem. As he approached the shteiblech, he noticed a group of fanatics. Those gathered behind him while shouting humiliating and degrading insults at him.
"You are a criminal and evil, son of a father who is a criminal and evil", they shouted, "he permits to dig graves in Beit Shemesh, get out."
Despite his escape attempts, the Zealots followed him and continued to embarrass him. At one point, he entered the yard of a Toldot Aharon Chassid who lives in the neighborhood. Before he entered, more fanatics threw his hat in the air, and trash cans and diapers began flying.
Luckily, a bystander who carried weapons began to shout, "Come here! Make arrests." Fanatics thought that the police were ordered and fled the scene. The son of Rab"d called a taxi and left the neighborhood.
The attack came after his father the Rab"d ruled that they are allowed by law to dig graves at the Golobnzitz compound in Beit Shemesh, contrary to the rulings of Ab"d Hgri"t Weiss, rabbis and other beis din members.
Meanwhile, respondents whom a petition has been filed this week against them seeking to stop work at the site will have to answer on Sunday. Answers will be served after the Israel Antiquities Authority, Golobnzitz brothers and more sought to postpone the deadline for submitting them. Court will review the petition and the respondent's response only after a decision is made whether to issue an injunction to stop the work.
Meanwhile, last week's protests detainees were brought this morning (and) to discuss extending their detention, some for the third time, as they are not willing to identify themselves to the police. So far the detention of 18 suspects was extended until Sunday. Seven more were brought later for court hearing for the case in progress and probably will be extended detention until Sunday.
