Magen David abandons his boxing and immigrates to Israel

Dimitri Shalita, the boxer known as the Magen David (Star of David) due to the large icon which appears on the boxing pants, who was considered until recently one of the most promising names in the boxing world in the U.S. - decided to abandon his boxing career, to immigrate to Israel and spend his time studying Torah.

At the same time, Dimitri plans to distribute and teach a special program he developed that includes self-defense which he plans to instill mostly in yeshiva students, but also to anyone who wishes.

Perhaps in Israel Dimitri will join the Maccabi sports club in Tel Aviv.
Dimitri is considered one of the biggest stars in American boxing with a record of 35 victories. In 2009 he ran against Muslim boxer who was champion of England, and was able to defeat Dimitri at the first round after a minute and 15 seconds. Dimitri, who was not accustomed to it, took the loss hard and decided to give up his dream of becoming world champion.

Since that loss Dimitri attended only five contests. The long hours of practice were exchanged with visits to Jewish communities throughout the U.S. - to raise funds for Chabad schools.
