Halperin affair: police closed the investigation against Rabbi David Halperin and two activists

London police announced yesterday (Tuesday) that they are closing the investigations of Rabbi David Halperin - a community rabbi in Hendon, and two activists, Gavriel Ost - head of the Shomrim in Golders Green, and Alexander Strom.

According to the statement, the police closed the cases against the three because apparently they have not obtained evidence proving that they disrupted investigation procedures in suspected case of Rabbi Chaim Halpern, Rabbi of Congregation Divrei Chaim, Golders Green.

Police also announced that it will continue an investigation against Rabbi Chaim Halpern for six weeks. That is: given parole conditions that Rabbi Halperin is under, in which he is staying under house arrest, in part, will continue during this period of the investigation.

During the investigation, Gavriel Ost had to resign as head of the 'Shomrim, although he denied the allegations against him in force. It is estimated that he will return to his role in the coming days. So far Ost has not responded to the police decision to close the case against him.

Rabbi Halperin's lawyer says he emphatically denies the allegations against him. Rabbi is suspected of molesting women who came to him for advice in matters of shalom bayis. So far, police could not formulate the evidence against the rabbi, as the women who raised the matter on the agenda are afraid to complain officially to the police.
