Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be the official declaration of allegiance ceremony of the Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi David Lau - Chief Rabbi of Israel and the President of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate and Rishon Lezion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef - Chief Rabbi of Israel and the President of the Supreme Rabbinical Court.

The ceremony will be held at President Shimon Peres's residence, at 10:30 am.

President will speak and sign the solemn ceremony with the chief rabbi's declarations of allegiance as members of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate and the great rabbinic judges. During the ceremony will also bear greetings Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Eli Ben Dahan and the Chief Rabbis of Israel.

Edge of the honorable ceremony preparations, it seems that the headlines will catch those who were not invited, and will not participate in the event despite the seemingly natural connection.
The first of these is the outgoing Chief Rabbi - Hgr"s Amar, who apart from being a personal friend of Hgr"y Yosef is also a relative by marriage. While the rest of the family in laws (Rabbi Suissa, Rabbi Yehuda Deri, etc.) are invited to the ceremony and will participate in it, the absence of one in-law may impair the event, defined as a ritual to which rabbis invite "friends and family".

Those who are invited by the Hgr"y Yosef's office is Hgr"a Abergel, who withdrew his candidacy at the request of Harav Ovadia Yosef. Recall, that forty years ago Rabbi Yitzchak studied with Rabbi Abergel.
However, the number one on the Shas list Eli Yishai, who had been a close friend of Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, was not invited to the event – to which Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri and MK Ariel Atias were invited only.

The offices of Yishai and the Chief Rabbi did not respond.

Behind the scenes there are two versions of the interesting story.
Version A: One associates of Eli Yishai claims that during the week Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef called several times to invite him to the event. Yishai asked at one point that a formal invitation will be sent to email or fax, an order that was not fulfilled until this moment. According to the associate, he asked a close friend of Deri why the number 1 on the list was not invited whilst number 3 (Atias) was invited, and accepted the truth which is that Eli is like the number 12 on the list, only technically he is number 1.
Version B: Rabbi Yosef's associates deny outright the story, claiming that this morning (Tuesday), after prayers at Harav Ovadia Yosef, Eli and Rabbi Yitzchak met, Eli asked the rabbi why he was not invited to the coronation event, and the Rabbi answered him that of course he is invited. "It was done by no choice by the Rabbi, what could he say?" - they say.
