Drama at the Golovenzitz compound affair in Beit Shemesh: R' Chaim Kanievsky appointed inspectors to decide – are their Jewish graves in the area located in the town of Beit Shemesh, on which apartments of the Binyan Shalem organization, are about to be built?
The decision was made after last night (Monday) the haredi contractor, Arye Golovenzitz and Moshe Frank of Degel HaTorah arrived at the home of R' Chaim in Bnei Brak and introduced him to the dealing with Asra Kadisha.
As apparent, the continued work on the ground stopped, until the decision.
Golovenzitz and Frank related to R' Chaim, for several minutes, the sequence of events in light of the abusive conduct of Asra Kadisha with homebuyers. The story of beating Golovenzitz was also on the agenda, when during the talk, he took off his suit and showed R' Chaim the bruises on his body.
Rabbi Frank, from the Binyan Shalem association, said he recently also absorbs threats: "Eight people came to me, I saw them and ran away."
At the end of the conversation R' Chaim blessed the two men and expressed himself surprisingly: "With G-d's help, you'll be saved from them."
Later, after hearing about the visit, a delegation on behalf of 'Asra Kadisha' arrived at R' Chaim's house in an attempt to tip the scales in their favor. During the conversation there were allegations about the presence of graves, claims which have been made many times in the past - by the organization.
Therefore, R' Chaim proposed to appoint Rabbis on his behalf who will arrive to tour the building site, to follow the arguments raised by the parties, and to bring the findings to him.
Meanwhile rabbis were appointed, R' Shmuel Halperin, who is considered close Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, the Dayan Rabbi Menachem Mendel Lubin, son in law of Hgr"n Karelitz, and the Dayan Yisrael Marmerosh from the Beis Din of Hgr"n Karelitz.
Only after they will tour the area this afternoon, and will present the conclusions to R' Chaim - a decision regarding the continuation of construction will be made.
Factors involved in the details of the proposal of R' Chaim said in a conversation with Behadrey Haredim: "This is a blow to Asra Kadisha, as R' Chaim suggested people on his behalf who will decide the issue, and did not rely on the organization who came to him with evidence allegedly showing the presence of graves at the site."
As mentioned, at this time the contractors will avoid the continued construction work at the site. In the afternoon the rabbis on behalf of Rabbi Chaim are expected to arrive, and later a final decision is expected to end the saga, so hope the members of Binyan Shalem.
