Iran: "We stopped a man on suspicion of espionage for Israel"

Iranian authorities arrested a man in Kerman, suspected of providing information to Israel. According to a report given by the state authorities, the agent, whose name has not been released, was involved in espionage in South - East Asia. On his last trip to Thailand, the agent passed intelligence information on Iran to the Israeli embassy in Bangkok.

Director of Courts, Dadhoda Salari, announced today (Monday): "After efforts which lasted days and nights the Intelligence Ministry officials were able to arrest the suspect suspected of spying and bring him to justice." The Mahar news agency said.

According to the report on press TV, the person arrested is a merchant with connections in South and Southeast Asia. He is suspected of making contact with a security officer at the Israeli Embassy in Thailand, during his recent visit there.

Dadhoda Salari added that he wanted to engage in espionage in the economic and geographic area in the Kerman province in Iran, but was stopped in time. "The man was arrested at the beginning of its activity, and therefore did not come to the second step of providing the information, but what is clear is that this man consciously and voluntarily transferred information, and he will be judged soon."
