Panic in Monticello: drinking water contaminated with dangerous bacterium

Panic spread yesterday (Sunday) in the camps and many bungalows scattered around Monticello in the New York Mountains, following the announcement by the Regional Water Department.

In the morning the Department issued a warning to holidaymakers who were asked not to drink tap water. The statement said that the department conducted a routine check this week in Monticello's drinking water, the water is contaminated with bacteria coli forms, which may cause diarrhea and vomiting, especially harm to infants, pregnant women, elderly people and patients with compromised immune systems.

Water Department-risk groups recommended consulting a family doctor what to do and what to drink.

Announcement caused great panic amongst the many resort towns scattered around the area, a significant number of inhabitants are women and babies. Various camps have called installers of water purifiers, hoping to protect the residents from the dangerous bacteria.
