A week after the arson of the synagogue Shefat Revivim on Nordau Street in Netanya, in which eleven Torah scrolls were burned and dozens of sifrei kodesh, the Sifrei Torah and kodesh will be brought this evening (Monday) to be buried in the cemetery in Netanya.

Arrest of the suspect, Zoma Pitigo aged 20, who was arrested in a special police operation on suspicion of arson of two synagogues - was extended twice to date, and police plan to file today or tomorrow a prosecutor statement for criminal charges against him, and a request to extend his detention.

Judge Hanna Schnitzer Zaga, ordered the detention hearing until Thursday.

Specifications reaching B'Chadrei Charedim indicate that allegedly Pitigo purchased inflammable material at the Shahar gas station on Nordau Street, where he was documented by security cameras, and two days later lit the synagogues in the area, one of which caused burning of the Torah scrolls and great damage.

The funeral procession will begin at 17:45 pm after a Mincha mass, reading of 'veyechal' and yom kippur katan. After reciting Selichot will share words of awakening will be heard: Rebbe of Sanz, Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef and Rabbi David Lau, as well as neighborhood rabbis and Kiryat Nordau Rabbi, Rabbi Yehoshua David Rosenberg.

The assembly will be held in the plaza and Synagogue complex Shefat Revivim in Kiryat Nordau, in an area trained in the city for the funeral mass.

According to the teaching of the rabbis of the city was declared a day of fasting for the burning of the Sifrei Torah, and anyone who can fast today - asked to take on a Taanit Dibbur and learn continuously for the burning of the Torah and its revelry.

"The suspect suffers from psychiatric problems"

Last Friday, the suspect was brought to court, where police representative said that for the first synagogue arson the suspect denied the incident, but for the second synagogue arson the version is mixed, partly admitted and ignited by a lighter load only and no flammable material. Then he changed his mind and kept silent and said that what he has to say he will say in court.

They added that the night he was arrested he was intoxicated. Testimonies indicate that he had a strong odor of alcohol. He may have left the house almost naked because of the influence of alcohol and not due to a mental condition.

The suspect's lawyer Advocate Amit Parenti said "I think that when it comes to that first ignition attributed to him now and the last time was allocated, with all due respect, and no reasonable suspicion is justified in respect of this ignition remand order. Members acknowledged that what binds them is evidence of a system. It's not enough. Method testimony is not so in relation to this incident in my opinion there is no reasonable suspicion."

"For the second event, I was present during the investigative activities carried out and claim that there is no reasonable suspicion that there is such a claim. Since it is extending the second arrest, the suspect was given version that there is additional evidence that I know about. I will ask the court to consider whether to remand the so long five days and I know we are before the end of week. Israeli police custody at the end of the week works. You can order a significant shortening of the days of the investigation."

"About his mental state, he does not give me consent to be tested, so I cannot give consent for his name at this stage of the investigation. I think that since this case are questions regarding his mental state, as Israeli police during that investigation will take these actions and others to examine this situation. This man should see a psychiatrist, the fact that he had not seen until now is problematic. Yesterday he was released from the hospital suffering from pains. I'll order the IPS to take into account the medical condition; the same medical document which has therapeutic instructions and recommendations will be met."

Police sought remand of five days, as it attaches to the suspect an involvement in arson, offenses of Obstructing justice, and the eruption of a residence or a prayer house and threats.

Judge Galit Ziegler wrote in the decision that "from the investigation indicate that the police progressed in their investigation, carried out many operations, prosecution follows the procedure, and certainly we can say that the suspicion against suspect intensified. Under these circumstances, there is room for further investigation while reaching conclusions about the two cases and for this detention will be extended until 05.08.2013."

According to defense counsel as to the mental condition of the suspect, the judge wrote: "It is fitting that the IPS will examine the qualifications arrest, and take care to treat the suspect's wounds and dressings required under the summary of the disease in the hospital."
