U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv will be closed on Sunday: fearing attack

Americans in panic over terror threat by al-Qaida: U.S. ordered yesterday (Thursday) to close the embassy in the Middle East on Sunday. Along with about 13 other Muslim countries in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia the embassy in Tel – Aviv will also close.

If the threat continues, disabling embassies may take several days.

U.S. official reported that the most likely source of threat is to the Middle East and is attributed to Al Qaeda.

U.S. intelligence reports quoted in the News Agency in the United States: "This is an authentic threat and not a routine conversation between the terrorists to carry out their wishes." The threat is estimated to occur in one of the embassies in Muslim countries, but other American sources said, "There may be more goals."

On Sunday President Barack Obama will celebrate his 52nd birthday. U.S. officials deny the connection to marking of the event. It should be noted that the American embassies in other countries - generally are not open on Sunday – as it is a day off in the United States.

The Embassy will publish a phone number which will be available for travelers in case of emergency.
