In Petah Tikva Magistrate Court an indictment and request for remand were filed against Israel Yitzhak Donat, 37, from Elad, for seven charges of burning trash cans around the city. Donat allegedly committed deliberate acts of damage and reckless and negligent acts with fire.

As appears from the investigation, Elad municipality was faced in recent months with the alarming phenomenon of vandalism, in which garbage cans were burned every night, whose cost stands at NIS 1,400 each.

According to the indictment, in the last two months Donat decided to burn plastic trash cans around the city of Elad, and equipped himself with boxes of matches. He would go out at night, for an unknown reason, and destroy the cans with matches which he lit and threw at 'frogs' - all without any apparent reason.

The indictment listed seven cases of arson:
On two separate occasions, the defendant left the house and headed into the street towards an alley which goes out of Rabbi Akiva Street in the city, and came next to the Zichron Yishayahu Beis Midrash.
On 5/20/13, an exact time is unknown to the accuser, the defendant left the house and headed out to an alley from Hillel street in the city, and came close to Ohel Torah Yeshiva.
On 05/30/13, at an hour which is not accurately known, the defendant left the house and came to Rabbi Shimon Street, next to house number eight.
On 2.6.13, an exact time is unknown to the accuser, the defendant went out and reached Honi Hame'agel Street next to number 42 in the city.
On 03/06/13, at an hour which is not accurately know, the defendant went home and came to the amusement park near Shimon Ben Shetah Street
On 11/06/13 at an hour which is not accurately known, the defendant left home and reached Nissim Gaon street next to number eight.
On 07/11/13, at an hour which is not accurately known, the defendant left home and reached Ritva Street next to number 10.

"Under these circumstances, the defendant intentionally and illegally destroyed the 'frog' by setting it on fire. In the deeds described above, the defendant did not act with fire precautions against probable danger associated with fire."

"The fact that the bins are located near residential buildings next to parked cars - demonstrate the dangerous potential inherent in these offenses and behavior. Only miraculously did objects nearby not flare up and cause heavy disasters, and resulted in damage to property alone.

The request argued that "the conduct of the respondent indicates beyond any doubt that this is a dangerous man, who can not be trusted. The fact that he lacks a criminal record does not constitute a defense umbrella since the acts of the respondent are severe in an unparalleled way, and it seems that you can not exchange them with alternative detention." As a result, the court was asked to arrest him until the end of proceedings.
