Monroe: A day of exploration over locating a missing 10 year old in the forest

After about a day of exploration, the special needs child of about 10, Shimon Zorger was located, after he came for a short visit in Kiryat Yoel in Monroe, New York, disappeared on the afternoon of Sunday and found safe and sound - but exhausted.

Zorger came for a short visit to relatives with his parents, and after a short time the parents noticed that he suddenly disappeared without notice.

At around 18:00, when they began to search for the child without posting yet, organizations members-Chaverim of Kiryat Yoel, Mazilei Aish and Shomrim, decided to establish a front command on 30 Schunnemunk Road, to focus the search for the boy, who disappeared on Liz'nsk Street in the city.

Searches continued throughout the city at night and beyond - throughout Monroe County. Monsey and Square volunteers come to help locate the missing boy. The police in turn joined to help, and toured the region using tracking dogs and helicopters which were rushed to the air.

Exploration range extended across neighboring forests. Due to the darkness during the night, Chaverim installed powerful lighting throughout the area, to allow the continuation of the search. In addition, the volunteers went out in the local lake in cruise boats to try and find the boy.

Activists asked all residents to leave their homes to look in the yards and also to try to look for him in their shops, lest the child accidentally was closed in one of these places, and a yard or door closed on him.

As mentioned, the child was found in a dense forest in Kiryat Yoel by police units, exhausted, and he was transferred for treatment and medical tests at the hospital.

An amusing little anecdote this morning when parents of the children in the area were informed that because the child wore a white shirt and blue stripes on it, children are asked to wear white shirts only; to avoid false calls on finding the child. Therefore all children wore white shirts on Shabbos morning.
