Fund for Victims of Terror of the Jewish Agency provided today (Monday) emergency assistance of 4000 NIS per resident of Jerusalem who was injured a few days ago in a stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. "Aid is an expression of solidarity between Diaspora Jewry and Israel's terror victims, the practice of Judaism throughout the world Israel's history", said Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky.
The incident occurred on the night of Tisha B'Av in the Old City of Jerusalem. Moshe Menachem Limuei, a resident of Jerusalem, age 33, returned from prayers at the Western Wall. Not far from the Damascus Gate a terrorist attacked him, stabbed him several times and left the scene. The young man, who suffered upper body injuries, was taken to hospital and underwent surgery and is now in the process of physical rehabilitation.
Moshe is married with four young children. Jewish Agency hopes that the assistance of the Fund for Victims of Terror will help parents give their children fun enrichment activities during the summer vacation like the rest of the children of Israel.
Fund for Victims of Terror - by the Jewish Agency, works through Jewish federations, foundations and donors from around the world, and is intended to assist the needs of complementary victims of terrorist acts and their families. Since its inception the Fund has helped thousands of families in Israel with tens of million shekels.
Parallel to the Jewish Agency operates an emergency fund that provides financial assistance immediately following the event to help organize primary and urgent needs. Fund for Victims of terror, acts in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the National Insurance Institute.
