District Commander visited Hgab"d • Initial release

Jerusalem District Police Commander, Superintendent Yossi Pariente, came for a special meeting this week with the Av Beit Din Eideh Charedim Hgry"t Weiss, along with senior police officers.

Meeting was publicized here for the first time, and it took place this week on Tuesday.

Earlier, police searched the home area of Av Beit Din Eideh Charedi Hgry"t Weiss, to avoid unwanted surprises, and then held a secret meeting at the rabbi's home, in which participated police officials from Jerusalem, for an introductory meeting with the Av Beit Din and the Eideh Charedi activists .

The meeting was held with a positive atmosphere, and is especially designed to create familiarity between the parties, and less with dealing with the issues and the various tensions between the Haredi community and the police.

Pariente took office a year ago - in August 2012, after his predecessor Shaham was forced to resign in wake of various scandals associated with him. Shaham tried several times to meet with the leadership of the Eideh, but was postponed repeatedly due to his known behavior and statements.

Officials who attended the meeting: Commander of the capital Ronen Ronen Avnieli, Chief Superintendent, Commander Amnon Alcalai, Chief of Zion, Eli Tayar, Police intelligence officer in Jerusalem area, and three others.
