Since the beginning of the summer, NYPD together with members of Hashomrim of Flatbush, are trying to capture a thief who steals packages which UPS and FedEx bring to Flatbush.
Hashomrim offices of Flatbush have received dozens of complaints from residents living in the neighborhood.
During watching of security tapes of homes from which packages were stolen, a man is seen dressed as UPS and FedEx, equipped with a clipboard as those which employees of the companies are equipped with, coming to the house, taking the package usually placed near the front door and disappearing with his car.
A business owner who is currently visiting the mountains of New York, and from whom two weeks ago shipping packages were stolen, decided to capture the thief.
The woman initiated the delivery of FedEx and UPS package yesterday, Tuesday, directed the security cameras to the entrance, and watched out from the summer house in upstate New York for the thief.
At one point the thief showed up, and the woman summoned Hashomrim Organization.
Chaim Deutsch, executive director of the Flatbush Hashomrim said: "As soon as we received the phone I called our people who scoured the entire area with a precise description of the vehicle and the man. At the same time I called the commander of the police station and he boosted cars which surrounded the area. Five minutes later the man was caught."
"In a search in the car by the police, six packages shipped via UPS and FedEx, and stolen from doorsteps were found, as well as a gun," says Deitch, adding: "If not for the woman's resourcefulness we would not have caught the thief."
