Starving Mother case: a further postponement in three months

On May 17, 2010 convicted Judge Yosef Shapira the Starving Mother on the basis of her confession to the charge of abuse of her son. At that time there was a commitment and declarations of the mother and witnesses to receive treatment and comply with welfare authorities. To enable it to comply with the agreed upon plea bargain, the court granted the parties' request to postpone the sentencing argument for three years from that day.

Reasons as set out in 2010 to postpone sentencing argument in three years:

The mother admitted to actions which is naturally difficult to admit them, especially those coming against the background and impact of social and environmental factors. Commitment of mother and her husband declaring all minors as pursuant to needy youth and not just the minor in question in the indictment. Emory treatments the defendant and her family should receive, and collaborate. The accused has since given birth to another child, existence of minor conditions that require collaboration and arrangement of family and community. Voluntarily stay under house arrest for three years and for the children of the mother.
Judge Amnon Cohen before whom the discussions took place said: "If I had to make the defendants judgment today the attitude of the prosecution would be imposing imprisonment. Upon reviewing surveys and on the basis of the parties and the defendant and her husband have stated in court that they will cooperate with the bodies dealing with the probation service, it seems to me that it would not be appropriate to derive the defendant's judgment today. I require the defendant to cooperate with the probation service and medical staff as needed."

After the hearing held today - sentencing postponed as of 24/11/13 at 11:30.
