Kiryat Yoel: Is Satmar slaughterhouse causing environmental damage?

Water authorities of Orange County accusing the Satmar slaughterhouse in Kiryat Yoel of water salinity in the environment • neighborhood activists respond: "This is an old anti-Semitic harassment"

Harassment against Satmar slaughterhouse, or real danger of harm to water quality of local residents?

News channel the Record - Online reports that a review two year conducted by the Water Authority of Kiryat Yoel in New York, revealed that the slaughter of Satmar which operates in the campus – is emitting increased amounts of salt into the river which runs around the campus, and serves as a central source of water for the residents of at least eight villages around.

According to the report, two recent water tests conducted by the Water Department of the Orange County Water Quantity discovered high salt limit. Department was quick to point the finger at the slaughterhouse of Satmar and the meat marketing enterprise operating in the complex.
However, activists in Kiryat Yoel argue that between the slaughterhouse and the authority in Orange County there is a murky relationship for some time, during which the authorities are trying to bring closure of Satmar's slaughterhouse, which has become one of the largest slaughterhouses in mehadrin kosher meat supply.

Activists say that in the past the Water Department of the Orange County claimed that blood volumes aquifers emitted from the slaughterhouse every day are causing heavy financial loss to the water department, since there has been a significant decrease in the amount of ready to drink treated water she can issue daily. Due to these claims slaughterhouse established special water purification system at a cost of one million dollars.

Now, slaughterhouse owners look forward to the results of the test conducted by the Water Department to determine whether the amount of excess salt is a health risk for those who drink. "This is not the first time they abused us, this is just a new anti-Semitic harassment – one we will hopefully get through," say activists.
