An avrech, 26, was imposed today with a sentence of five months in prison to be served in community service after taking the car of the Rosh Yeshiva where he studied, drove on the sidewalk and injured two boys sitting on it.

The avrech was prosecuted following an incident that occurred on 02/03/09, when he studied in a yeshiva in Bnei Brak.
On the said date, Rabbi Yisrael Fadida, Rosh Yeshiva, asked the avrech to bring him things from his car, Toyota, and for this purpose gave him the car keys. The student was not authorized for driving, and yet, started the car and drove it without the permission of its owners.

The student drove on Kahneman Street in Bnei Brak, from north to south, up to the intersection of Kahneman and King Saul. He didn't notice the way, he turned the car off the road and onto the traffic island, eight feet wide, and hit two boys standing at the time on the island - one sitting on his bicycle, and the second, standing beside him, both 16.
Following the accident the boys were injured as follows: the first had a broken shoulder and dry bruises on his feet. The second suffered ankle injury, head injury, and hematoma in the right thigh. The first boy's bike was damaged and also damaged the car.

The defendant admitted a few months ago as part of a plea bargain, the charges against him in the indictment, and convicted of offenses attributed to him. Accordance with the plea bargain, the defendant was referred for a test report which will examine each case and will recommend suitable punishment.
The student was imposed five months in prison to be served in community service, seven months probation, two months of another probation and fine of NIS 3,000 and driving disqualification and granted a license for two years

Danielle Shirazi, Supreme Court Tel Aviv Magistrate who sentenced the judgment today explained the decision: "Mask facts described above, the facts which the defendant admitted, embodies a very serious event, event severity from start, and even more serious with its development and its consequences. Defendant's actions reflect risk and there is the potential behavior of fatal injury to human road users, it is a miracle the event didn’t end more seriously.
