Education Committee approved: exempt institutions which will teach core subjects will receive 55% of the budget.

The Knesset Education Committee approved the draft law which conditions the budget granted to exempt institutions based on studies.

According to the proposal, institutions which will teach mathematics, English and Hebrew will receive 55% of the budget, but an institution that will not teach these subjects will receive only about 30% of the budget.

The bill passed by majority vote and is subject to final approval by the Knesset, where it shall be created as part of the Arrangements Law. According to the proposed amendments, the law will be applied only on 1 January 2014 gradually.
