Broke into shuls as revenge • "Boy's cry for attention"

The District Court in Rechovot sentenced a former orthodox youngster to a year in jail, after he used to break into shuls and leave behind a lot of damage as revenge. "Offenses outbreak, which is unfortunately large, compromises of personal and public property, and caused feelings of fear and infringement of privacy," the judges explained their decision.

An indictment filed against him last week recounts the events and offenses attributed to him, including onset and theft. At first the youngster, a resident of the city, denied the allegations, but a few months later and sitting in his cell - he admitted.
The court revealed the circumstances that led him to action. It turned out that throughout his childhood he grew up in a rigid environment, and a little before the age of 18 he cut off from the Orthodox way of life and became secular. "One minute he took off his kippa, peyos and suit, and returned to his parents who were not willing to accept it," wrote his attorney and noted that the difficult life circumstances are that led to the criminal behavior that characterized the period in which he used to break into shuls.

Magistrates Court opinion was that his punishment should be moderated and ordered community service at the Kaplan Hospital in the city.

"It was not a matter of economic gain, only the child's cry for attention from his parents," the lawyer tried to argue.

Prosecution appealed the sentence, and after discussion at the district, the judges decided to order a year in jail. In addition for imprisonment imposed a fine on the young man and compensation to be transferred to the shuls in which he broke into for half a year.
