Lookout • kibbutznikim will secure haredi soldiers

The kibbutz movement has decided to establish a system of volunteers to accompany haredi soldiers in Jerusalem and Bnei Brak.

This morning (Tuesday) a letter was sent to the kibbutzim Secretaries, in which the kibbutz movement offers to join the volunteer force whose mission will be to protect haredi soldiers on Thursday and Friday in central Jerusalem and Bnei Brak.

"The volunteers will be men, from military age to age 80, Yoel Marshak specifications, director of the task of organizing the operation, adding: "The volunteers will concentrate in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem, near the intersection of Sarei Yisrael - Rashi. Every soldier who passes through us – will be accompanied by foot or by car.

"If circumstances would be threatened – we will protect the soldier with our body, and get the police by phone. Accompaniment will be without any weapons - sharp or blunt."
Accompaniment will be held every Thursday 12:00 - 21:00 and on Friday between the hours of 10:00 to 18:00.

Secretary General of the kibbutz movement, Ethan Roshi said: "National military service is an important value. Haredi youth who chose to join the army are brave and worthy of all praise. Violent attacks on young haredim who chose to enlist by their friends in the Eideh Charedi – are condemned and the state should act against it."

However haredi soldiers claim that this program will lead to provocations and nothing more. "The police should start operating against the incitement campaign against us," says Yosef Z., a Haredi soldier serving in Shachar, "The journey has been brewing for months without the police doing anything. Everything else is unnecessary and counterproductive."
