In the afternoon a religious soldier was attacked in Jerusalem again, this time in Beis Yisrael.
At around 16:30 a religious soldier wearing a white yarmulke was attacked verbally and physically by a youngster. The soldier fled to the Mir Yeshiva and called the police.
Avi, a Mir Yeshiva student told B'Chadrei Charedim that he saw a gathering at the yeshiva, and went to find out what happened, where the soldier said that he by chance walked through the area and when passing Sonnenfeld Street on the corner of Beis Yisrael, they shouted Chardak and spat at him, but missed.
"The soldier arrived at the yeshiva, where he told about what happened, was not angry and didn’t shout. The boys understood it, and condemned the attack.
"From what I understand, the general media have gone overboard and wrote that he was rescued, while in reality he waited quietly at the yeshiva, until the arrival of a police car that took him to the station to file a complaint."
Jerusalem police said that the soldier filed a complaint for assault, noting that even he got beaten in the stomach during the attack. Jerusalem Police launched an investigation, to find the violent attacker.
It turns out that the soldier who was attacked is the graduate of the attackers of the young Arabs in the lynching of Cat Square a year ago - an indictment was filed against him. Shimon Siman Tov, 20, accused of aggravated assault stemming from racism, incitement and racism and incitement to violence.
Indictment shows that last August Siman Tov was at Cat Square in Jerusalem along with about 60 other boys who said to hit Arabs at the scene. Among other things, there was shouting 'Mohammed is dead' and 'death to the Arabs'.
According to the indictment, during the fight Jewish boys beat and kicked some Arabs who were there. Further, they headed for Zion Square where they saw four other boys - where the boy was attacked and beaten vigorously "until he lost consciousness and stopped his heart and soul."
Last week prison terms of three boys who were involved in the attack were received. The trial of Siman Tov still continues.
