Mir Yeshiva decided to take a revolutionary new policy to recover the economic situation of the yeshiva: From now on, boys registering at the yeshiva will have to pay each month an amount of 400-800 shekels.

Since the passing of the Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshiva Hgrn"tz Finkel, the yeshiva tried to recover from large debts encountered mainly due to the economic recession that hit the business world. Raising funds held abroad Hgra"i Finkel, and his son, who currently serves as head of the yeshiva, were able to cover some of the debts, but not all.

Even in recent times, and yeshiva students salaries are delayed and not paid on time. Just today (Sunday) some scholars received the salaries of the last month of Nissan.

Immediately after the death of the Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshiva administration turned to the parents of the boys and asked them to help pay a monthly sum of 400 shekels which be considered as a contribution to the yeshiva. Some parents responded to the request as they could, but some did not attach great importance.

Therefore, it was decided recently that new registrants at the yeshiva will fill in a standing order of 400 shekels each month. A boy who receives boarding residence will have to pay the yeshiva 800 shekels per month.

"This is a decision which should facilitate the economic situation at the yeshiva," explained officials at the yeshiva.

However, the amount of money is not the only thing which would have to be undertaken by a new boy at the yeshiva. B'Chadrei Charedim has learned that a boy who wants to join the yeshiva will sign the special rules articulated in favor of the new registration process. Among the items contained is the prohibition of holding private or mobile computers at the residential apartments, the obligation to hold a kosher mobile device, prohibition of residence in the apartment where boy who are not registered at the yeshiva are staying. Apartment which meets all the conditions will be supervised by those responsible at the yeshiva on the apartments in Beis Yisrael neighborhood who will make sure the conditions are not violated.
