Boyan chossid dies at 101 • Rabbi Zev - Dov Bruchie z"l

Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: in Jerusalem, on Friday night, R 'Zev Dov Bruchi z"l passed awayi at the age of 101.

Rabbi Zev Dov z"l was born on 24th Sivan 5672 (1912) in the village of Zagorash near the town of Sanok in Galicia, as the seventh son of his father R' Yisroel Baruch Tratner a"h, one of the leading chassidim of the Rebbe Pachad Yitzchok of Boyan zy"a. When he was seven years old his mother, Mrs. Chaya - Sarah a"h, passed away.

In his youth he was close to the Rebbe of Boyan - Chernowitz. He immigrated to Eretz Yisroel in 5696, and settled in the village of Gedera, along with his father and brothers who arrived before him. He was among the founders of religion in the colony and served in Chevra Kadisha there for over fifty years. At the time he was close to the Rebbe of Boyan - Leipzig who resided in Tel Aviv. Additionally, he served as member of the colonial secretary.

Rabbi Zev Dov, like his brother, was a rare breed among the chassidim of Boyan. They belonged to religious Zionism and their children were educated in its institutions. Although they did not wear a shtreimel on Shabbos, their heart was a pounding chassidishe heart, their souls connected to the Rebbe and they were meticulous with chassidish customs in detail. Rabbi Zev Dov was the last of the nine sons of Rabbi Yisrael Boruch Tratner, two of whom died during the holocaust in Europe, and others died over the years.

In recent years, R' Zev lived in 'Beit Tovei Ha'ir', located close to the Beis Midrash of the Boyan Rebbe. Till a few years ago he used to participate in the 'Tish' and go in to the Rebbe.

The funeral will leave tomorrow, Sunday 7th Av at 10:30pm from Shamgar Funeral Home to the Vohlin plot on the Mount of Olives, where he will be buried next to his father.
