Storms and heavy rains fell in Toronto and flooded large areas in the city.
In one case, an ultra-Orthodox couple was stuck in a flooded street. Orthodox couple who visited the city found themselves floating in the water in the car on the flooded street.
The driver rushed to call the rescue members who alerted the fire department.
Avrumi Friedman, a veteran at the organization said: "Fire brigade came out with boats to rescue the couple, because all the streets around had turned into a river, because of the rains.
"We raised all the manpower we could and we worked through the night to rescue stranded cars, help patients who remained without electricity, because at least 200 Orthodox families were left without electricity, including patients who require the devices.
"Dozens of houses were damaged and basements were flooded. We received a call also from a yeshiva student stuck on a flooded train. We spent seven hours working to rescue train passengers in boats and we took care of rescuing the yeshiva student as soon as possible. Currently, says Friedman, power has returned, and two ultra-Orthodox families affected by the floods, are recovering."
