Beirut: killed by explosion at Hezbollah stronghold in Dahiyeh



At least 18 people were injured today (Tuesday) as a result of an explosion which shook Rova a - Dahiya in Beirut, apparently a car bomb near Concourse Islamic Cooperation."

At 11:00 reports began coming from the media in Lebanon, the explosion occurred in a parking lot in the Beer Al – Baad, the southern suburb of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold. Lebanese TV showed a big fire which broke out and heavy smoke rising from the area. Hezbollah blocked access to the area.

There are conflicting reports on the number of casualties. Reuters reported that some people were killed, but network Al - Manar, which is affiliated with the organization of Hassan Nasrallah, only reported injuries. Beirut, security sources reported only 18 wounded.

Lebanese Interior Minister Marwan Charbel accused those responsible for the bombing of Beirut's Dahiya neighborhood in an attempt to stoke internal conflict in his country.

Ali Ammar, an MP from the Lebanese faction of Hezbollah accused Israel of responsibility for the bombing of the Dahiya district of Beirut. "There is a clear fingerprint of Israel and its instruments in this dastardly deed," said the MP.

Television network Al - Miadin, Lebanon, affiliated with Hezbollah, reported that the weight of a car bomb exploded in Beirut's Dahiya neighborhood was 40 kg.

Recently Syria rebel groups threatened to harm Hezbollah strongholds in retaliation for their deep involvement in the fighting alongside the forces of President Assad.
