Shuvu Baim trip to Morocco for Tisha B'Av - was first published in B'Chadrei Charedim – and continues to make waves in the media: Ma'ariv newspaper, published this morning (Tuesday) an extensive article on the planned trip. "Yeshiva students who travel are going to spend most of the summer holidays with the Rabbi."
Many followers have already started to rent apartments and rooms from local residents. "The Rabbi is staying in an area where Jewish families live so the chassidim will rent apartments in groups, to lower financial costs."
At Shuvu Banim they tell that Rabbi Berland himself lives in a luxurious villa, which one of the leaders of the local Jewish community allocated for him. One close associate of the Rabbi says, "A rich Jew is paying for the rabbi's stay in Marrakesh".
One of the surprising figures close to Rabbi Berland in Morocco is the criminal from Jerusalem, Gabi Ben Harosh. According to the Yeshiva students, Ben Harosh accompanies the Rabbi virtually anywhere without moving from him. "Ben Harosh firmly believes in Rabbi Berland and often slept with him in his apartment," says a young man who is currently in Morocco. "He personally takes care of his food, drink and sefarim. He also takes the Rabbi to kivrei tzaddikm, where the rabbi prays for the success of Am Yisrael."
Environment of Rabbi Berland said that he continues to hold a regular agenda, including seeing students, studying, praying and talking with Jews around the world and advises on various issues. They say that during the last few weeks three brisim took place in the home of Rabbi Berland. These are babies to two families from the Jewish community in Marrakech, and a family from Israel which flew the baby, so the Rabbi can serve as sandek.
The big dilemma is whether the Rabbi should go to Uman this year for Rosh Hashanah, Ukraine, to get on the grave of Rabbi Nachman. Rabbi Berland is considered one of the trailblazers to Uman, and is one of the founders of arrival to his grave on Rosh Hashanah, in the era after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Meanwhile it became known that the entertainer Eli Yizpan, considered close to the rabbi, donated two tickets to Morocco for two students of Rabbi Berland. In a conversation with Ma'ariv, Yizpan confirmed it, but said he does not want to talk about the rabbi. "I donated two tickets to the rabbi's students who study Torah with me," said Yizpan.
