John Kerry's to visit Israel in doubt - due to his wife's hospitalization

Teresa Heinz, the wife of U.S. Secretary John Kerry, has been hospitalized since yesterday (Sunday) in a serious condition in a hospital in Massachusetts.

Heinz, age 74, suffered from cancer and had surgery twice in the past. However, the cause of the current hospitalization was not disclosed.

Recently it was reported that Kerry is expected to return to Israel in the coming days, but it is not yet known how this will affect his wife's medical condition.

According to a report in a local newspaper, Heinz is in critical but stable condition. She stayed with her husband at their resort on the island of Nantucket, south of Cape Cod, when she felt unwell and was taken to Boston on a private jet. From there she was immediately rushed to the emergency room at Massachusetts General Hospital.

State Department reported that doctors were able to stabilize the situation and that her husband is at her side. "The family wishes to maintain their privacy at this moment," the statement said.
