Yeshiva student drowned in Tiveria, evacuated in severe condition to Poriya

Rescue teams were called a little while ago (Friday) to take care of a 21 year-old resident of Beitar Illit, who drowned at the separate beach in Tiveria and lost consciousness, paramedics, volunteers of United Hatzalah Tiveria branch performed successful resuscitation.

After resuscitation, he was evacuated in serious but stable condition by ambulance to the Poriya hospital, to the trauma unit. Later he was transferred to the respiratory intensive care unit.

Spokesman for Hatzalah, said: "This is a yeshiva student, who drowned, and paramedics successfully resuscitated him and his pulse returned. Then he was evacuated in serious condition for further medical treatment at the hospital whilst sedated and on a respirator."

Yossi Akunin, head of Hatzalah in Tiveria, a told B'Chadrei Charedim that the boy came along with about 10 to 15 guys to the separate swimming beach. One of the men pulled away from the beach and a lifeguard suddenly noticed that he is sinking in the water. He immediately came out with a surfboard and rescued him from the water whilst unconscious. Immediately advanced resuscitation began and later he was taken to hospital and his condition is defined difficult but stable.

MDA spokesman said: "At 15:25 MDA Jordan received a report that a man was pulled up from the Kinneret after drowning at the separate beach, near the tomb of Rabbi Meir in Tiveria. Medics and Magen David Adom paramedics gave medical treatment and performed CPR during which his pulse returned. He was evacuated in MDA MICU to Poriya hospital in a serious condition, unconscious and on a respirator."
