Model removed from an advertisement: "understand the Haredim"

Advertisement for a fan belonging to the Gold line company, in which is seen the reality show stars 'Big Brother', Lyhee Greener, was distributed all over the country. But in signs hung around Jerusalem, Greener's picture has been removed by computer - Army Radio reported.

According to the company, her picture has been removed "in order to take into account special populations of Jerusalem."

Activists who are determined to fight the exclusion of women turned to the general media and raised the issue of the exclusion of Greener from the Company ad. "This is very serious," they said, and noted that "this is not the first time that women are excluded from the public sphere in Jerusalem."
Nevertheless, Lyhee Greener, the presenter herself, is not necessarily upset. "I can completely understand the Orthodox; they have trouble seeing a girl doing a huge poster advertisement. I can understand them a little bit," Greener said on Army Radio.

The company which markets the Gold Line products in Israel responded: "Its customers include all the sectors in Israel, and each sector has one sensitivity or another. Matter of modesty is an example of this, and out of respect and recognition of public feelings to our clients we chose certain areas such as Jerusalem or Arab villages to come up with advertising with no image of the presenter, and thus to respect everyone."
