Jerusalem Magistrate's Court convicted today (Monday) Sarachna Ahmed, of breaking into the building Yeshiva Kol Torah in Bayit Vegan, Jerusalem at Bein Hazmanim, after having worked there previously in renovations for about 3 months.

According to the indictment, on Friday the 19.8.11 at 15:00, Ahmed arrived at the yeshiva with another person who owns a red car, the two men entered the offices of the yehiva, locked the door connecting the yeshiva to the dormitory, leaving the key in the door, so one could not open it from outside, and based on the information to which he was exposed while working in renovations, the two broke the wall in which one of two safes in place was fixed, opened the vault with keys they located in a wallet in a office drawer, and after stealing thousands of shekels given as a donation to the yeshiva as well as foreign money: Euro, dollars, Swiss francs and British pounds which yeshiva students deposited in custody – they fled.

It is estimated that there were tens of thousands of dollars in the safes. According to some of the testimonies, in one of the envelopes in the safe there were at least 18,000 shekels and 12,000 Euros in another envelope, it is also known that another student wanted to get back to 5000 Euros.

Ahmed testified that on the day of the burglary he passed with his manager Khaled and worker Yihya in Bayit Vegan to "see what remained", then moved to Shoresh, and another place he did not remember, when around 10:00 they had already left the yeshiva in Bayit Vegan, and at 15:00 came back to the checkpoint.

He said from there he traveled by taxi to where his wife was waiting in his red car, since that day his wife called him and told him she can not come due to an obstruction in the road, closure of the barrier and traffic jam of worshipers who completed their prayers and returned from the mosque. His wife drove him home from their meeting place, he then went to sleep, and when he got up he went to his father to break the Ramadan fast with a meal.

Judge Ayelet Ziskind said at the conviction hearing: "After examining the totality of the evidence, I was impressed that the defendant's testimony zigzags, is not consistent, is not consistent with his statements at the police, is contradictory with credible evidence of witnesses who have no interest to incriminate him, and therefore is not credible."

Therefore Sarchana was charged with offenses of braking into a non-residence building and theft. He will be sentenced soon.
