Fighter prevented stabbing attack at the Cave of the Patriarchs

Today (Monday) in the early afternoon, a young Palestinian resident of Hebron in her 20s came to the entrance to the Cave of the Patriarchs, and made her way from the Casbah in Hebron to the Police post.

Upon her arrival she aroused the suspicion of the fighting position, which began to increase secure inspections, while making apprehension of a suspect. Search of her body found three knives of various sizes.

Initial questioning reveals that the young woman was on her way to make a stabbing attack against the occupation and - allegedly her objective was to stab a security officer.

Further shows that the young woman was arrested about a year ago, for attempting to carry out a terrorist attack, and served her prison sentence – which she finished a few months ago.

The suspect was arrested and taken for interrogation and further treatment at the SJ District.

Superintendent Elyahu Zephyr, cave battalion commander, said: "vigilance and professionalism of the fighter prevented the escalation of the event, and allowed to thwart the intentions ahead of time."
