National Insurance CEO warns: Orthodox will topple us

During a CPA conference in Eilat, the National Insurance CEO referred to existing non-employment among broad sectors of society, particularly non-participation in the labor market among the Orthodox.

CEO of the National Insurance Institute, Prof. Shlomo Moore - Yosef, warned that if the situation in which many young people do not work continues, the day will come they will not be able to pay national insurance even to the first tier of social insurance.

He added that there will be no choice but raise the retirement age before receiving old age pension. "The decision to postpone the next term is easy, because it's another 40 years, but the more you make these decisions earlier – they are smaller," he stressed.

He added that the institution resists the collection of premiums from housewives and he predicts the collection rate will be low. However, Moore - Yosef stressed, that if premiums are collected - housewives will also receive insured's rights.

VP of Social Security benefits, Ilana Schreibman, stressed that the institution wants to extract maximum rights: pay anyone who comes to him and not pay for those who do not deserve it. However, she emphasized the Social Security wants to do so without unnecessary bureaucracy.
