Rabbi Yosef Efrati to Kashrus supervisors: No Smartphone's!

Different ways have been adopted by activists in the uncompromising struggle against the Smartphone devices. So far, it has been spoken of the expulsion of students whose parents have such devices - not for a living - from educational institutions. Different synagogues printed notices prohibiting those with these devices from having access to the Aron Kodesh and serve as chazan or baal koreh. Satmar communities declared that whoever has such a device, without a filter, may not be in the profession which is defined as 'sacred vessels', such as a shochet, sofer and more. There were also those who forbade them to be a witness during a chuppa, write letters in a Sefer Torah etc.

Another step in the fight is recorded by Rabbi Yosef Efrati, head of Beit Midrash of agriculture according to the Torah, despite him being subject to the body dealing mainly with overseeing the fruits and vegetables. Rabbi Efrati sent a letter to the supervising staff working under him, and that those who hold a device will not be approved - by the rabbis to continue to serve as a supervisor.
In the letter Hgr"y Efrati writes:

To all the mashgichim,

Everyone knows how sever it is to hold a Smartphone device and it has been published by Gedolei Yisrael concerning this matter. One who supervisors Kashrus cannot be trustworthy to his job if he holds an impure device.

"We are aware of the fact that communication needs arising from the uniqueness of the kashrus work require available communications means. Therefore we will try to recommend – if there is a need – to connect to a device under supervision. However we are unable to approve in the system a mashgiach that holds an impure device."
"We are certain", Hgr"y Efrati ends, "that everyone of the mashgichim will help us not to fail in our task."
