Despite the difficult turmoil which Shuvu Banim kehilla underwent last year, with the escape of the community leader Rabbi Berland to Morocco, precisely during this difficult time there is an emerging solution to return a high percentage of the money of ticket buyers to the grave of Rabbi Nachman on Rosh Hashana last year.
Behadrey Haredim learned that Nahman Berland, son of Rabbi Eliezer Berland, returned last week frp, Morocco - where he stayed next to his father. Nachman's trip and visit revolved mainly due to economic problems affecting the community.
One of the issues raised on the agenda was the return of the purchase cost of tickets in the operation which collapsed last year. The rabbi asked his son to take care of the issue and try to return the purchaser's money as much as possible. Last year Rabbi Berland had expressed himself at length on the matter and said: "We had never lied or stolen one person or another, now too we will refund all the money."
Reminder: the sale of tickets started on Chanukah last year, when there was a first pre-sale of tickets - a great success, at this sale there were 7,500 people, with the price of an adult ticket being $ 300 and the price of a child's ticket $ 200. The subsidy per ticket was supposed to be between 400 and 500 dollars.
Two months before Rosh Hashana another operation started: During the early registration 1700 tickets were sold at a cost of $ 500, with no difference between adults and children. Price subsidy per ticket was $ 200.
A few days before Rosh Hashana, when thousands stay near the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslev in Uman, the Nachalei Eitanim company, which worked on behalf of the kehilla, announced that the ticket subsidies operation had collapsed. 9,000 passengers were left without tickets, while the funds paid had disappeared. So far only some buyers received their money back.
In the coming days, vouchers granting $ 150 to $ 200 for each ticket buyer, will be handed out among 3 travel agencies, for each of the ticket buyers in the operation who have not yet received their money back. The voucher will be implemented by the buyers with a new ticket for travelling this coming Rosh Hashanah. The remaining amount will be distributed in the next settlement which is reached - if and when. It is estimated that there are between 4,000 and 5,000 buyers, some members of the community, who have not yet received their money back.
"The Rav really wants purchasers to receive their money back," said an official of the community, "so that there is a desire to return to Uman."
Three daughters of Rabbi Berland to visit Morocco
Meanwhile, after his son and wife visited Morocco over the last two weeks, on Monday the three daughters of Israel Rabbi Berland will be flying to stay in Morocco.
The purpose of the trip: to visit their father Rabbi Berland, whom they have not met for months.
As revealed for the first time in Behadrey Haredim, last week a Jerusalem family celebrated the Bris of their fifth son along with Rabbi Berland. The family flew from Israel to Morocco after they did not give up on the possibility that the rabbi will serve as Sandak.
