Andrew Porter, a Jewish American 21 year-old student, was stabbed to death yesterday during a demonstration in Egypt. Porter's family said that he was in Egypt to teach children English and to get better in Arabic.
Meanwhile, the riots are continuing against President Mohamed Morsi. Tomorrow (Sunday) is planned a demonstration of one million against him – on the day he will celebrate one year on the inauguration as president.
The country's opposition claims that they managed to collect more than 22 million signatures on a petition calling for him to step down. This is more than a quarter of Egypt's population, numbering about 85 million inhabitants.
During a press conference in Cairo, the petition initiator Mahmoud Badahr said, that the number of signatures far exceeded the target range - 15 million signatures by tomorrow.
Against the background of preparations protest tomorrow is likely to be the biggest since the coup which ended the rule of President Hosni Mubarak in early 2011, rose in the afternoon yesterday the death toll in clashes between supporters and opponents of Morsi to four. This is due to the death of 14 year old boy, Ahmed Metwali, who was wounded in the demonstrations in Alexandria yesterday.
