Accusation in Monsey: the Rebbe's wedding at state expense

A Rockland newspaper, the county in which Monsey lies blames the local municipality of wasting of tax dollars for granting security for the wedding of the Vizhnitz Monsey Rebbe.

The Rockland County Times requires examining whether Lue Falco, sheriff of the city which is located in Monsey, financed the Vizhnitz Monsey Rebbe's wedding security from tax money.

The paper turned to the sheriff of the city and wanted to know who paid for the overtime police worked for the wedding this year of the Rebbe of Vizhnitz Monsey.

By law, at private events the event owner must fund the security of the police, which in this case amounted to 12,621 dollars.

In response Falco explained that his office makes sure that the organizers of private events actually pay for police work.

"People accuse me of favoring the chassidic public in the county," he said, "but I do not discriminate people for the better, people who break the law are treated accordingly even if they are chassidim, wedding organizers paid everything up to the last penny, and whoever wants can come to my office, everything is documented" said the sheriff.

The newspaper wrote in response that the government alone can check if indeed the police collected all the money from the organizers of private events.
