Sicrikim's new goal: destruction of bus stops.

Over the last two weeks there were a few incidents of vandalism of bus stops in Geula.

More than a week ago a bus station at Strauss street corner Avodat Yisrael, that being after only a short time ago it was upgraded for the convenience of urban residents during the last upgrade in the Geula neighborhood.

The station's windshield was shattered and black paint was spilled on the benches. Only a week passed and another station on Strauss Street was vandalized too after unknown vandals poured black paint on the benches.

As it turns out, according to residents, those behind the acts are Sicrikim residents of the nearby neighborhood of Mea Shearim.

A resident of Mea Shearim neighborhood who is an acquaintance of the group did not address the question of who is behind the act, but could explain at length the cause that may lead to acts of vandalism:

"The residents here have established with City officials before the upgrade, that it would be possible to fold the bench at the bus stations so that boys and girls will not sit on them on Friday night here and disturb the neighbors. But they did not meet this condition."

He says, besides the coordination about the possibility of folding the seats, an organized agreement was signed between officials at the municipality and factors in the neighborhood, which included arranging bus lines etc. But most of the agreement was not realized: "Those factors did not meet the conditions," said the resident, "I suppose it causes a violent reaction."

Not only the moderate residents in the neighborhood are outraged by their actions, but also those who more radical: "It is inconceivable that the legal authorities will not act to catch these perpetrators and put them behind bars," said Meir, a resident of Geula with Behadrey Haredim, 'it is inconceivable that residents of Meah Shearim or Geulah will do whatever they want and no one will react."
