New service for high tech firms: computerized 'goy shel Shabbos'

High-tech companies never cease to amaze. This time: a special Shabbos Goy company for high-tech companies.

The initiative is lead by Eddie Nabuani, Druze resident of the Galilee, a graduate of computer science.

Nabuani said that as part of his project at 'Microsoft', one of his managers who was observant, asked him to help him with problems created in different systems during Shabbos, of which he only became aware when Shabbos went out. For the coming Shabboses, the director decided to use Nabuani, to solve the problems that crop up, without him being able to intervene in fixing them.

After he became a self-employed, more and more companies approached him, and asked him for his service for Shabbos, to repair complex problems which required in-depth knowledge of computers.

Nabuani decided to formalize this assistance and together with four other employees, computer wizards from the Druze village of Julis in the north, he decided to promote a new venture that aims to provide companies which keep Shabbos, a"Shabbos Goy" who would give aid and immediate solution every Shabbos.

The director of the company stresses that today every company has a possibility of managing systems from a distance, and there is no need to show up at the corporate offices. Thus, he can manage in remote control from any place in the country and the world, the systems which need service.

"I had a case," says Nabuani, "that I needed to send messages and chat with six states simultaneously, to check and make sure there are no glitches in the interface of that company. We want the religious to keep Shabbos, and that someone who is not a Jew will do the work for them, and that's what we're here for."
