After nine cases of vandalism and spraying anti-Semitic graffiti, including crosses, in synagogues in Bat Yam, Ayalon police arrested on Sunday a 48 year old man suspected of spraying the graffiti.

His detention was extended twice, and yesterday (Tuesday) the judge Ido Druyan of Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court decided to release the suspect to full house arrest.

Today (Wednesday) an appeal was submitted to the District Court to delay his release. A police representative Superintendent Yaakov Blooki said at the debate: "These are cases of spraying graffiti on synagogues in Bat Yam and Kiryat Malachi against God and picturesque crosses, after an investigation and activation measures we discovered that it is the respondent, the respondent was questioned and confessed.

"During the investigation it was clarified that he may be mentally ill, and was asked to extend his detention for four days for further investigation of the suspect, and for the other tests, only then it was made clear to us that there is a similar case in Kiryat Malachi with similar characteristics.
"In the Kiryat Malachi case we clarified that there was an event while the respondent was under house arrest in Kiryat Malachi, and has a sister who lives there. A decision was made to change the address to Holon - Bat Yam, and then other offenses were created."

Judge David Rosen rejected the appeal, while stating that the planned investigation operations can be maintained even when the suspect is under full house arrest. The judge added that even if there is an explanation to the police that the suspect is mentally impaired or under the psychotic state, this does not form a ground for detention.

In recent months, four synagogues were vandalized in Bat Yam again and again through graffiti and graffiti on synagogue doors.

Central Synagogue 'Ohel' on Vradim Street was vandalized four times, the Mikdash Melech synagogue, on Haviva Reich was destroyed twice, the Tifereth Yisrael synagogue on Hadadi Street was vandalized twice, and the Adas Yeshurun synagogue, on Hadadi Street was vandalized once.
Following these cases, hidden security cameras have been installed to help documentation and capturing criminals, and these bore fruit, as seen in some of the footage supplied:

The last case occurred on Friday night. At around 23:00 the suspect came to the synagogue, Mikdash Melech on Haviva Reich Street in Bat Yam, and sprayed black spray crosses on the doors of the synagogue.

Synagogue members discovered the horror upon arrival to the synagogue on Shabbos morning, checked on Motzei Shabbos the security cameras, there the sprayer is seen when he comes and performs the actions. Security cameras record was transferred to the Ayalon police investigators and the suspect was arrested.
