Anti-Semitic weekend in Montreal: two masked men threw on Friday morning two Molotov cocktails into a restaurant, Café Shalom.
A police spokesman said that according to the evidence of neighbors living above the restaurant, two young men wearing a cap were seen fleeing the scene. He said the estimated damage caused to the restaurant amounts to 15 thousand dollars. Police and firefighters evacuated everyone in the building for five hours.
A year ago the Bistro restaurant, located just one block from the restaurant set on fire on Friday, was ignited in a similar way.
On Friday night, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a house inhabited by a haredi family. The incident occurred in the same neighborhood where the restaurant was torched. The family had finished the Seudah when suddenly they heard an explosion coming from the window in the living room. Fire broke out in one corner and remnants of a Molotov cocktail were found. No one was injured.
Following the incident, security has been beefed up in the haredi section of Montreal.
