Limited options: half a million poor Jews in New York

New report by the UJA Federation of New York shows that over the last decade there has been a significant increase in the number of Jews in the city. But more than half a million Jews living in the city are defined 'poor'.

According to the report, 35% of Jewish children throughout the Greater New York City are under the influence of poverty.

It also shows that poverty affects mainly among Jewish immigrants from Russia, and among ultra-orthodox families, after them on the scale of poverty are adults.

According to the report, the number of poor Jews doubled in the last two decades, and in Brooklyn, for example, two out of three Jewish families live in poverty.
