Rabbinical orders: two and a half tons of ground beef were destroyed

Two and a half tons of contaminated and rotten ground beef was destroyed today (Thursday) at the packing factory of Gamzo, when the veterinarian of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council received information on the packing factory, and when he reached the place he saw the meat with a kashrus stamp.

According to the procedure, the vet called the inspectors to enforce the fraud unit of the Chief Rabbinate.

"The owner said the meat is for dog food, but dog food does not require kashrus stamp, or expire date - also printed on the label. The beef was stored in non controlled conditions, and could easily have maggots and flies infest it."

The vet decided that the meat does not deserve to even be eaten by a dog, and destroyed it by pouring a chemical.

Israel's Chief Rabbinate calls to consumers and shopkeepers not to consume any meat and poultry products from unknown and unmarked sources, and not be tempted to lower and unreasonable prices.
