Council Member of New York David Greenfield, calls religious institutions in New - York, to hurry and apply for funding for security.

Homeland Security has allocated $ 10 million for security upgrades to institutions and organizations that are under the threat of terrorism, such as synagogues, Batei Midrash and schools.

Non-profit organizations will have a budget of up to 75 thousand dollars for security. This Monday is the last day to submit applications for security budgeting.

Greenfield argues that many yeshivos and gabbaim of shulls are worried about anti-Semitic incidents that occurred in Haredi neighborhoods, and would like to upgrade their security, but do not do so because of budgetary problems.

"This is the opportunity of all the managers of institutions and Batei Midrash to upgrade the level of security," he says. "Last year the office delayed the budget for various reasons, at the end of the last month the office announced that it is renewing the budget and called for institutions and high-risk organizationss to contact the Ministry of Public Security."
