Two minors, yeshiva students in the north, went for a bike ride near the yeshiva, an innocent bike trip that turned into trouble when they were attacked by a group of Arabs, and because of that – spent a whole night in custody.
This morning (Wednesday) the two were released at the police station.
Two minors, yeshiva students in Kfar Hassidim, went out for a trip on electric bikes. Around 20:00, at the entrance to the village Ibtin a group of Arab's who arrived in two vehicles stopped the two. Later dozens of Arabs crowded around and beat the boys and broke their bikes. According to the boys, older Arabs who were at the scene prevented the young Arabs from carrying out worse injuries. Arab attackers claimed to the boys that they came to the village to burn the mosque.
The boys called the 100 emergency centers of the police and complained about the attack. Only half an hour later and five phone calls on their part, Zebulon police cars arrived. To the surprise of the boys, the police evacuated them to the police station. More police who were there, questioned the Arab attackers, but no one was arrested.
The boys were taken to the police station, where they remained separate until 2:00 at night, without being told why they were detained. At 2:00 GSS interrogators came to the station and questioned the boys for 45 minutes for their actions in the village. Having realized by the GSS officials that are suspected of conspiracy to commit a crime and that their hands smelling of gasoline, the boys were questioned by Zebulon police investigators.
In response to the demand of detainees to speak with an attorney of the association 'Chanenu', the investigator answered with vulgar and degrading curses towards the boys. Note that shortly after the arrest, Attorney Adi Keidar from Chanenu, initiated contact with the detainees - but were refused by police.
After talking with Mr. Keidar the detainees were interrogated for several hours. In the morning, police told them they would be released provided they sign on the terms of house arrest a few days and expulsion from a village in the region for about a month. The boys were forced to accept the conditions and released to their home.
The parents of the boys, who arrived to stay with their children, were upset. "I'm really amazed by the police department. These boys who were in danger, see the Police as a rescue address, and instead an innocent trip turned into a situation where children are criminals, handcuffed and detained in cells, even without the possibility of parents to enter questioning - arguing that it is security clearance," said one of the mothers, adding: "It is a scandal, they overturned tables here, who is the victim and who is the culprit, I just cannot believe this is happening in Israel."
Association Chanenu strongly condemn the police: "Madness systems of political leadership and police around the theme of 'price tag' lost all proportion. Persecution waged by the aforesaid factors plus campaign of media incitement, turned an attacked into an attacker and victim into a criminal. Meaning of the policy of the police is ignoring the attempted murder everyday of Arabs, and on the other hand works against children who it is very doubtful suspected of vandalizing property, leading to anarchy in the area which collected the price of Jewish blood.
