If there won't be a last-minute change, for the first time in history two rival sectors of Satmar, will unite together for a rally of millions to be held on Sunday at the Square of the Federal Plaza in Manhattan, protesting against the recruitment decree and Perry Committee.
It wasn’t easy for the parties to reach an understanding. This is a marathon of negotiations that lasted intensively since the public announcement of the Assembly, during the conference against the ravages of technology, held by the Satmar Rebbe on Sunday. From the moment of the announcement, the door at the residence of the Rebbe did not stop to move on its axis and his home phone never stopped ringing. Delegations came and went. Rabbis and politicians were running, including those representing the two factions of Satmar, and of course in chassiduses and other communities.
Yesterday evening came to the home of the Satmar Rebbe – who comes once a week to Williamsburg, Brooklyn - Rabbi Yitzchak Glick, Safra Ddeina of the Rabbinical Association of the United States and Canada, and announced that faction of the Satmar Rebbe Mhry"y will join the demonstration, but subject to a number of conditions.
B'Chadrei Charedim has learned that Rabbi Glick asked in the name of Mhry"y of Satmar community that also a Rabbi from the community will speak at the rally.
The Satmar Rebbe expressed his consent to the request and said, "I do not care what you ask, I want to have as many people who will go out to protest at any price."
That’s how the plan started. Today at 10 AM (New - York) will give the final answer. "99.9 percent of the answer will be positive," says an organizer of the demonstration.
As already reported, the Satmar Rebbe came immediately after the conference against the ravages of technology, to the Galanta Rebbe's house, who serves as rabbi of the Association, to discuss the possibility of joining the two communities to stand as head of the assembly.
These efforts bore fruit. Thus, everyone will see the two Rebbes - brothers standing on one podium, united in a rally of thousands. Alongside them will also appear the Lithuanian Roshei Yeshiva, led by Rosh Yeshiva of Lakewood, who finally confirmed last night his participation.
Meanwhile, the Eideh Charedi in Jerusalem announced that Badatz member Rabbi Naftali Frankel will come to New York to speak at the demonstration.
