In an arm-twisting game took place between Hatnua of Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, and Habayit Hayehudi of Economy Minister Naftali Bennett, which recorded a new episode last night: Hatnua chairman vetoed the proposed Amar law.

Hatnua are angry that Habayit Hayehudi torpedoed the Stern law, the law initiated by party member MK Elazar Stern. This week Justice Minister Tzipi Livni torpedoed the discussion on the increase of religious reform announced by the Minister of Religious Affairs Naftali Bennett and his deputy Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan.

But Hatnua was not satisfied with just that, and last night claimed 'price tag' Added: Tzipi Livni vetoed the Amar law proposal which it filed on Sunday to the Ministerial Committee on Legislation, Shas MK Avraham Michaeli, who has won the approval of a majority of committee six ministers with one objection - Tzipi Livni.
Veto is a different democratic tool, since an appeal is imposed on - by Comrade Minister Ministerial Committee for Legislation, while veto imposed on - by the Chairman of a faction in the coalition, according to agreement between the parties in the coalition agreement.

Last week it was Habayit Hayehudi chairman, MK Ayelet Shaked, who vetoed the Stern law and demanded the Knesset committee not to discuss the law. Now it was the turn of the veto counter to come.

Shas has been arguing with the filing of the bill, informally, that the law stands no chance to be passed, and the feeling was that MK Michaeli submits the law to make the request of Hgr"s Amar, although he knows in his heart that the law lacks chance.

As mentioned, tonight was another step towards the final burial of the law that would allow the continued tenure of Hgr"s Amar – as Rishon Lezion.

Shas officials have already expressed outrage yesterday at Amar offices, for formulating a deal with Rabbi David Stav. An acute post was formulated and distributed, but at this stage they avoid going out in public, and in the voice of Harav Ovadia Yosef – on the subject.

Veto of the chairman of Hatnua, presumably produced sighs of relief in Shas, although both public did not give them publicity.

Another sigh was heard from the direction of MK David Rotem, Chairman of the Constitution, who has repeatedly made it clear that he will hang the Rabbi Amar Law in the committee, and that the law no chance to pass. Rotem is a senior oppose to continue tenure of Hgr"s Amar, due to the fact that in the past, after the chief rabbi went chapter by chapter on military conversion law - and approved it under his hand - pulled the agreement at the last minute. Eventually it was Hgr"o Yosef who authorized the military conversion law.

Tzipi Livni veto is based on a coalition agreement with Hatnua, whereby any change in legislation on religion will be with the consent of coalition partners. Although it is not a clear subject of religion, she must cling to this section.
