Tragedy in Jerusalem: Naomi Elbaz a" h a two and a half year old toddler, swallowed nicotine liquid used in electronic cigarettes this morning - she died in hospital.
In the morning, a little before 11:00, the emergency center received a report, about a girl in Beis Yisrael, Jerusalem who drank a dangerous substance - and lost consciousness.
Hatzalah and Zaka volunteers arrived at the scene and performed resuscitation.
Then she was taken in critical condition, anesthetized and on a respirator, to Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus. The doctors tried to stabilize the situation and after they were unsuccessful the toddler was rushed to special care at Hadassah Ein Kerem - where she died.
Etty Dvir, Hadassah Medical Center spokeswoman said to B'Chadrei Charedim: "the toddler came to the hospital in critical condition and was put into intensive care unit, where doctors fought for her life. Despite the efforts, after about 8 hours, when doctors fought for her life, the infant returned her soul to its Creator, much to the chagrin of the family. "
Naomi a"h is the eldest daughter of avrech Shimon Elbaz is a chassid of the Breslev community of Shuvu Banim. The family has another one year old daughter.
According to family members she found a bottle filled with Nicotine - used as a component of compound poured into the electronic cigarette. Naomi opened the vial and drank from it.
Israeli police are investigating the circumstances of the case.
Her funeral will take place at around 12:00 at night at Har Hamenuchos.
