The ongoing struggle between the seniors at the Shuvu Banim community on the sale of the building in the Old City of Jerusalem goes up a level: Rabbi Berland, who fled to Morocco, sent a letter to his students in Israel in which he expresses his opinion against the sale of the building.
The letter arrived to B'Chadrei Charedim and states as follows: "All members of the holy community Shuvu Banim. I hereby notify all members of the holy community, G-d forbid; there is no intention to sell the building of Shuvu Banim in the Old City. "
The letter was written in the handwriting of Rabbi Berland asking a community leader to exercise the restraint, "and ask each one to keep calm and not agitate the surface that this building would still be sold forever and ever."
The letter is sealed by Rabbi Berland as follows: "In the merit of our holy Rabbi, and thanks to the pure and holy Torah, yours truly, Eliezer Berland.
The structure located in the center of the conflict dozens of students learn day and night, praying regularly at sunrise. Hgr"e Berland used to give over weekly classes at the building. A special feature in the place is that it is attended by most of the founders of the community and folders, and branched out from all the other institutions.
Recently, the structures are still held by the community under threat of transfer of ownership and execution for debt.
Rabbi Berland's sojourn abroad adds fire to the fire, and the risk of the community buildings higher than before. Now the elements of the community are trying to sell building, previously known for at least two institutions which received an offer to purchase the building in huge sums.
Rabbi Berland's associates are accusing that the sale is intended to give another fatal blow to the community. Tonight (Tuesday) is expected to take place a prayer in place against selling of the structure.
