An appeals court in the United States backed the administration's decision not to publish pictures and videos taken during the assassination of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, including body images.
The Associated Press reported that a panel of three judges in Washington Court rejected an appeal filed by an American organization that promotes transparency, which wanted to publish the photos.
Decision of the judges said that the publication could expose confidential intelligence gathering methods, and trigger violence against Americans.
In the past a White House spokesman referred the question of disclosure of evidence that Bin Laden indeed was killed and said that have not yet decided whether to disclose the burial pictures because it may contain explosive materials."
Other sources at the White House said that President Obama intends to publish the photographs to avoid question marks. They said that it includes the publication of at least one image, a disturbing image in which is seen a bullet that entered the head of al-Qaeda leader over his left eye.
Later U.S. President Barack Obama decided not to publish the image of his body. According to Obama, exposing the image may endanger state security. As noted, the Court today backed the government's decision not to publish images during liquidation or body images.
